Dr. Roberto Macedo and our team quickly diagnose and treat developing dental problems through the use of digital X-rays. Digital X-rays are an advanced diagnostic tool that capture images of your teeth and supporting structures, allowing our dentist and team to more easily see developing problems and plan appropriate treatments.
Digital X-rays make the imaging process faster, more comfortable and more convenient than ever before. Unlike conventional radiography, digital X-rays rely on small sensors to capture images of your teeth and supporting structures. They do not require the use of any chemicals for developing film, and our dentist can view the images instantly on a nearby monitor. Digital X-rays also produce 80 to 90 percent less radiation than film radiography, making them much safer for use.
Some of the dental problems that our team may use digital X-rays to diagnose include:
- Tooth decay, especially between the teeth or in the tooth roots
- Developmental abnormalities
- Cysts and abscesses
- Fractures in existing fillings
- Infection in the tooth nerves
- Bone loss
- Improper root positioning
Digital X-rays are also commonly used in planning oral surgery, such as dental implant placement or root canal therapy.
