Dr. Roberto Macedo may recommend dentures if you need to replace multiple missing teeth. Dentures are a type of removable oral appliance and consist of prosthetic teeth fixed into a plastic base. They are designed to fit your mouth comfortably and restore your ability to chew, speak and smile with confidence. Dentures also support the contours of your face to give you a healthier overall look.
There are two main types of dentures available:
- Complete dentures — Complete dentures are used to replace all the teeth in your upper or lower dental arch. Depending on your individual needs and the condition of your teeth, we may recommend replacing all the teeth in both arches or just in one.
- Partial dentures — Partial dentures are typically recommended when you are missing multiple teeth but still have some healthy teeth remaining. This type of denture often uses a thin framework or clasps to anchor it to your natural teeth and provide a more secure fit.
Your dentures are custom-made to provide a secure, comfortable and aesthetic fit. The process of creating and correctly fitting your dentures may require several appointments with our dentist. Your dentures will also need maintenance or repairs periodically to ensure that they continue to fit and function properly. Our dentist and team will provide you with instructions on the care and maintenance of your appliance so that you can continue to benefit from it and avoid pain, discomfort or other complications.
